Attunex is an iOS podcast player built around a single idea: you care about people, not just shows. A founder, a researcher, an author, or a favorite host turns up as a guest across many different podcasts, and traditional apps make those appearances almost impossible to find. Attunex lets you follow a person and collects every episode they feature in — newest first, in one feed — then plays it in the app, keeps it offline, and generates a transcript and summary on your iPhone.
Attunex is an independent app, built and maintained by Duo Wang, a solo developer. It isn't backed by a company, an ad network, or investors. That independence is deliberate: there's no incentive to harvest your data or clutter the app with ads, so the app can stay focused on doing one thing well. Development is ongoing, with regular releases that expand the catalog of people you can follow and improve matching quality.
Attunex needs no account and shows no ads. Transcription and summarization happen entirely on your device — episode audio is never uploaded for processing. Person search is answered by a small first-party service at api.attunex.app, which keeps short, pseudonymous request logs only to run the service and see which people are searched for but missing. Behind the app is a large, continuously updated database of people and their podcast appearances. When you follow someone, Attunex draws on this database plus Apple Podcasts and public sources like Wikidata to assemble their appearances, and keeps it current as new episodes are published. Where an episode's details are AI-generated or AI-assisted, the app labels them as such.
